Hawaii follows Hawaii Standard Time (GMT-10 hours), which is 5 hours behind Eastern Standard Time and 2 hours behind Pacific Standard Time. Hawaii does not observe Daylight Savings Time so add one extra hour to the time difference during this period (March through November).

All major domestic carriers and many international carriers serve Oahu, so you can get here from just about anywhere. There are also direct flights from the continental US to Maui and the big island. It is best to fly into Oahu if you are planning to come to Molokai because it will be easy to transfer to the inter-island flight that will bring you here. There are no direct flights form the continental US to Molokai.

Whale watching season begins in late December and ends in early May. Peak whale watching months are between January and early April. November through February is surf season on Molokai's West shore.

Is Molokai crowded?
No, not at all. It is a very quiet and rural island. It's like Kaua'i used to be. There is no traffic and you can still see the stars at night.

It takes about half an hour to get to Kaunakakai which is the main town (about 22 miles away). Maunaloa Town which has the Kite Shop, Post Office and Maunaloa General Store is about 10 minutes away.
